The Right Honourable Dame Jacinda Ardern
Former Prime Minister of New Zealand (2017-23)

The Right Honourable Dame Jacinda Ardern served as New Zealand’s 40th Prime Minister from 2017-23, becoming known for inclusive, empathetic leadership and bold policy change.

Taking office at 37, she led the country through major crises, including a live-streamed terror attack targeting New Zealand’s Muslim community, a volcanic eruption, and the COVID-19 pandemic, when New Zealand recorded one of the lowest death rates among developed nations.

Her government banned military-style semi-automatic weapons, launched the Christchurch Call to Eliminate Violent Extremism Online, advanced women’s representation, decriminalized abortion, strengthened pay equity laws, and extended paid parental leave to six months. Today, Ardern is Patron of the Christchurch Call, a Member of the World Leaders Circle, a Distinguished Fellow at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School, a Global Advisory Council member of LawZero, and a climate advocate through The Earthshot Prize and COP.

In 2024, she founded Field, a first-of-its-kind fellowship program fostering empathetic leadership in politics.
